We've finally had a bit of a light but persistent rainy night - I think there was 11mls in the gauge overnight, and it's still steadily raining as I write this.
Which is NO consolation whatsoever if you're in the Mallee or parts of the Wimmera where I think I heard them saying on the Country Hour are still missing out.
I don't know how those guys up there cope - we've been mildly panicking with the incredible dryness since Christmas here - and we've had probably 30 or so mls since then. Above us and further West - nothing in some places.
But at least the guard "dogs" are warm and dry:
Fingers firmly crossed that this episode evens up the rain distribution across the State - there are some places which are really really suffering from this ongoing desperately dry weather.
