Breeding Time

We have got A LOT of chicks around and we're waiting for more hatchings of chicks and two of ducklings (one of which is likely to be very confused as the chook they were originally settled under was hoicked by one of the Turkeys... hopefully new housing will be available before they are hatched as the Turkey's are hopeless mothers!)  Why a chook and not a duck ... well the ducks can't sit because the goose is still trying desperately to hatch straw, but the duck eggs we gave her she stuffed up on as well.. it's complicated.  Okay.

Anyway - we've got a lot going on, not the least of which are our first couple of hatchings - 8 weeks old:

They are now around 12 weeks old:

and have had to be moved into the turkey house because.....

The next lot had to go into their house (there's 14 in each batch)

Including one Araucana from the batch from the neighbours (we're all still hoping like hell it's a boy to replace their recently dead rooster).

Plus we've got this little gathering:

All of which is leading up the next blog post......
