As you'd be aware from postings on this blog in the past, we have been working on an extensive plan for moving dotProject 3.x forward - both technically and functionally.
The actual development work on that has been proceeding as and when developer resource are available, but as of a week ago, we have been able to devote one of the development team to the task on a full time basis for approximately 1 - 1/2 months.
This dedicated effort has been made possible by the generous sponsorship of De Bortoli Wines
De Bortoli's are a renowned supporter and champion of Open Source Projects in Australia and their assistance to dotProject means that our developer will be able to make some real inroads into both the technology changeover and the functionality improvements.
To monitor / track the work we have re-instigated the developers dotProject site at:
http://devsite.dotproject.net
There is an option there for people to login in and monitor progress.
The project there will be a fluid entity as we adjust what can be achieved against the sponsorship money, and as the unpaid developers are able to contribute at the same time (which is currently very much an unknown).
This sort of sponsorship offer for dotProject is an absolute first for us. Never before has anybody from the community provided us with a monetary amount that allows us to employ one of the existing developers (who bring you dotProject and the free support on a daily basis) and needless to say this is an unbelievable offer and we're extremely grateful.
We trust that you - the user community - can also give some consideration to how important this offer has been to everyone.
