Gryphon Tailes 5

It seems that a combination of the donated carpet, the medication and Gryphon starting to figure out coping strategies has resulted in a happier dog and a slightly more normal life.

The problem with our house is that we don't have a way outside for the dogs that doesn't involve stairs. Because of this I'm a little concerned about allowing Gryphon free range during the night, if he gets himself into an awkward position he could cause a lot of damage and pain before we woke to help him out. Because of this I'm still locking him in with me of a night and the ritual is now down to take him out before we go to bed, then at around 2 or 3am, and then let him out around 6am and open the deck doors. This has worked well for the last few nights although my sleep has been a little more disturbed than usual, so instead of getting up at around 6:30 or 7am I'm going back to bed then for a few hours to catch up on sleep.

So now we need to see if medication adjustment is required and if the dog chiro can do anything to assist in his movement.
