Kenshin has sought out his teacher in the Hiten Mitsurugi school, Hiko Seijuro. Seijuro thus far has refused to teach Kenshin the final move he needs to be able to save Kyoto from the mad plans of Shishio Makoto. Kenshin's friends have come to warn him abou Shinomori Aoshi, who is bent on Kenshin's, or rather his former self, Battosai's destruction.

Aoshi is prepared to join Shishio but only to find Battosai. The "Ten Swords" must know where Battosai is, and Aoshi is prepared to battle any and all to find out what he seeks. He may even have to face his own teacher.

This is the continuing saga of the Rurouni (wanderer) Kenshin, who previously was hitokiri, or assassin, called Battosai. Now that he has turned away from his past he carries the sakabato, or reverse edged sword, to ensure he can never kill again.

This story captures the period of the Meiji, or restoration of Imperial rule over Japan. The struggles of assassins and swordsman to come to grips with the new order are presented with humour and sensitivity. Of course the fight scenes are wild and furious, but the romance of the period is not lost.

This is a classic Manga series that will delight fans and newcomers alike.
