2 miles under the ice of Antarctica lies an ancient artefact that may hold the secret of life on earth itself. Judging by the earthquakes centred on the area, it may also command awesome power. Power that draws the attention of the US military and players from as far afield as Egypt and Rome.

General Yates commands a secret investigation team on the continent, breaking international treaties against military expeditions. He brings his son, Conrad, an archaeologist whose unorthodox approach and theories have made him infamous, to help discover the secrets of the massive pyramid, P4.

Serena Serghetti, an environmental activist and linguist who specialises in ancient scripts, is called to the Vatican to find out what is going on. Serena's former life as a nun was finished by rumours circulated by Conrad, and she has unfinished business with him.

Reading RAISING ATLANTIS is like being in an arcade game. Fast paced and action packed it comes complete with quest to save the world, evil adversaries, dizzying panoramas and challenges, quizzes and obstacles to beat to get to the prize. Lovers of role playing games should thoroughly enjoy this, revelling in its twists and turns. Given the online entertainment background of the author, this is unsurprising.

Thomas Greanias is the founder and CEO of Atlantis Interactive Inc, and the book is closely associated with the e-Book of the same name and the popular Atlantis Mapping Project.

An interesting mix of myth, religion and international intrigue, it could be a far better novel than it actually was. There are some fundamental problems with character development, plot, and even basic science and biomechanics. If you can ignore these aspects and treat it for what it is, a classic fantasy quest, you will be rewarded with a book that is light and entertaining.
