Letter From America, number 4

Yesterday I told you I'd been to an Alpaca ranch, and many people were surprised when I said it had rained all day. California is supposed to be sunny at this time of the year, isn't it? Well, for proof, take a look at a few photos.

On that page you may see a photo of one of Apple's buildings. I had walked past one of these buildings twice a day for the last 3 days, and it was only this morning I made a discovery that was at first odd, then made perfect sense. What sort of trees do you plant in front of a computer manufacturer's building? Well if the company is Apple, you plant apples!

Well, there isn't much else today, as I had to spend the day working. I did meet a lot of people today that I have really only known as names on emails before. That is the trouble for working in a global "virtual" company. Many of the employees, myself included, work out of virtual offices, where we sit in front of a computer and could be (and are) anywhere in the world. It means that we hardly ever get to sit down in a room together, which is why many of us value the times we can get together, even if it is primarily heads down, bums up working.

By the way, the above image page now also has shots of the trip to the coast, and while there isn't a lot of sun, there is a lot of interest. And if I ever figure out why flickr keeps turning my portrait photos back to landscape, there may be a few more soon.
