Wet, Wet Wet

Good grief it's wet in these parts.

It's just got silly now - about the only things happy at the moment are the ducks, the slugs and the mozzies!

But things are trying to grow in the vegetable garden whilst we fight the desperate fight against the slugs.

Claude's feeling very lonely at the moment as we're still waiting for Turkey hatching - so he spends his days trying to be alluring to chooks and ducks... it's not working

One very wet Wieldy

At least everyone's getting on well together:

The chooks aren't so convinced about the mud - but the ducks absolutely love it - there's almost a constant squelching noise coming from around the feed station.

The snake bed is pretty well all planted out now - with tomatoes down the centre spine and all sorts of other things dotted around.

Tomatoes in straw bales as normal - but this year they've needed to be protected from the blasted rats!

There's a lot more tomatoes in little circles dotted around the place - these strategically placed to drive the silkies mad. Although the tractors are currently there to give them some shade in the afternoons - I'm going to have to find another location for them soon.

The two raised beds we had in operation last year have been cleaned out, relaid with straw and manure and are already producing quick Asian greens - waiting for the pumpkins and melons to get moving.

And the hot house has it's summer shade on - lots of seeds being saved in there at the moment, although the last couple of days I've started clearing all that out ready for quick grow herbs to go in.
